How Much House Can I Afford in Florida?

Answers from broker Ryan C. Winslow

How do lenders figure affordability?

Lenders compare your total monthly debts, including the new payment, to your gross monthly income. In Florida, the payment includes insurance, and insurance often costs more than buyers expect.

What does a Florida payment include?

Principal, interest, property taxes, homeowners insurance, flood insurance where required, mortgage insurance on low down payment loans, and association dues.

How do I get a real number?

Get a pre-approval with actual insurance and tax estimates for the areas you want. Ryan and Megan Winslow are NMLS licensed loan originators (NMLS 2426605 and 2692933).
